600D polyester (often PU-coated)
- Lighter finished weight; better margin headroom on mid-price SKUs.
- Finer weave takes sublimation and heat-transfer decoration cleanly.
- Abrasion life adequate for commuter and office cycles.
1000D polyester / Cordura-type
- Noticeably stiffer hand-feel; the "rugged" first impression retail buyers feel through the shelf.
- Survives dragged-loading cycles (outdoor, tactical, workwear lines).
- Cost per panel rises meaningfully — quote impact typically 8–15% on total unit price depending on hardware mix.
The hybrid pattern most brands miss
Put 1000D only where physics happens — base panel, bottom corners, strap anchor zones — and run 600D elsewhere. You keep roughly 80% of the toughness perception, spend ~half the premium, and cut sewing difficulty on curved panels.
