J-Strap vs S-Strap: The Shoulder Decision Most Buyers Skip

Strap shape is not decoration — it decides how force travels from shoulder to bag body, and which seam eats the stress for the next three years.
S-Strap (curved)
The S-curve follows the neck-to-shoulder contour, concentrating contact area on the trapezius. Better load transfer for upright urban carry, less neck chafe on lighter loads (under ~8 kg). Costs more to cut and stitch — curve panels waste marker fabric and demand careful seam alignment.
J-Strap (ergonomic hook)
The J-shape wraps the shoulder's front curve and keeps the strap anchored under load without sliding off. It is the default for school and hiking programs where the bag swings; straighter cutting makes it cheaper at volume with predictable seam stress.
